The Distinction

Childbirth is an event.
Motherhood is a transition.

Désirée works in the space between the two.

Pregnancy changes far more than your body. It can change your identity, your relationships, your career, your priorities, your relationship with time, your relationship with yourself, and the way you move through the world.

There is no shortage of information about pregnancy and childbirth. What is often missing is someone who can help you understand the whole picture.

Désirée works privately with women throughout pregnancy and postpartum, helping them navigate the physical, emotional, practical, cultural, relational, and healthcare dimensions of becoming a mother.

The goal isn't simply to prepare you for childbirth. It is to prepare you for the transition.

What This Work Actually Holds

Six dimensions of one transition.

01 / Body
Body
Understand the physiological changes of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, while developing practices that support your physical wellbeing.
02 / Healthcare
Healthcare
Become a more informed participant in your care. Prepare for conversations with providers, understand your options, ask better questions, and advocate for yourself.
03 / Mind
Mind
Make room for the emotional and psychological transition. Explore expectations, uncertainty, fear, control, identity, and the experience of becoming someone new.
04 / Support
Support
Build the infrastructure around you — partnership, family, community, household support, professional support, boundaries. Who will actually hold you, when you are accustomed to holding everything together?
05 / Culture
Culture
Health is never culturally neutral. Désirée considers the traditions, beliefs, family structures, rituals, foodways, and healing practices that shape how you understand pregnancy, birth, recovery, and motherhood.
06 / Life After Baby
Life After Baby
Work, relationships, rest, recovery, nourishment, boundaries, identity — how motherhood fits into the life you have already built, and who you want to be within it.
The Structure

One woman.
One experience.

There is no standard curriculum because there is no standard woman. Désirée's work is individualized around your health, your pregnancy, your values, your culture, your support system, your questions, your circumstances, and the life you are preparing to return to after birth.

This is not about telling you what to do. It is about giving you the knowledge, perspective, tools, and space to make deeply informed decisions for yourself.

The Maternal Transition

Four phases. One continuous relationship.

01 / First Trimester
Orient

We begin with where you are — your body, your health, your expectations, your questions, your support system, your fears, your values.

Establishing the foundation

02 / Second Trimester
Prepare

Healthcare decisions, communication, physical and emotional preparation, support systems, cultural practices, work and home considerations.

Not a perfect plan — a thoughtful one

03 / Third Trimester
Integrate

Your preferences, your advocacy, your support network, your postpartum environment, your recovery, your boundaries — and the possibility that birth may not unfold exactly as planned.

Not control — capacity

04 / Postpartum
Reorient

The baby has arrived. But so have you, in a new form. Recovery, nourishment, emotional wellbeing, relationships, identity, support, and boundaries.

Not an afterthought — part of the transition

For the Woman Who Is Used to Handling Everything

You know how to prepare. You know how to research. You know how to make decisions. You know how to lead.

PrepareResearchDecideLead

And then pregnancy introduces an experience that cannot be completely optimized.

Your body changes. The timeline changes. The stakes change. The rules change.

Désirée works with women who are accustomed to being the person everyone relies on. Her role is to become someone you can rely on.

Not to tell you what kind of mother to be.
Not to make decisions for you.
But to help you understand the landscape, ask better questions, recognize your options, prepare your support system, and move through the transition with intention.

Before maternal health became her life's work, Désirée spent nearly a decade leading global operations and strategy across the aerospace and automotive industries, negotiating multimillion-dollar supply chain contracts across five industries and seven countries.

She brings that same strategic thinking to maternal health. But with a different question:

"What does this woman actually need to thrive?"

Culture Matters

Evidence and tradition do not have to be enemies.

Of Caribbean descent, Désirée draws from herbal medicine and ethnomedicine rooted in her heritage while honoring evidence-informed care. She believes culture plays a profound role in how people understand health, healing, family, birth, recovery, and motherhood.
